Experiences

At Casalpina we like to imagine stays that bring you into real contact with the place around you.

Together with a few friends, we are building a small series of experiences around food, tradition, materials, landscape and mountain knowledge.

They will always be offered to small groups, at certain times of year or on request.

To see what is active in each season, follow us on Instagram and join our mailing list.

Wild clay a Casalpina
Spring · Summer · Early autumn

Wild clay

An experience dedicated to the earth. We start by exploring the area: a walk through fields and along the river to look for clay, observe the soil, work the material by hand and experiment with first forms of modelling and firing.

A way to reconnect with a simple, ancient material through gesture and landscape.

In collaboration with Giulia Forgione.

Lo Pan Ner — black bread a Casalpina
October

Lo Pan Ner — black bread

A day dedicated to Alpine black bread: flour, dough, rising, baking and the story of a practice that has belonged to mountain life for centuries.

A tangible experience made of hands, ovens and shared time. In 2026, Lo Pan Ner – The Breads of the Alps is scheduled for 17–18 October in the Aosta Valley.

Alpine foraging a Casalpina
Late spring · Summer

Alpine foraging

An outing devoted to identifying and gathering spontaneous Alpine herbs among meadows, streams and the edges of the woods.

A chance to look more closely at the landscape and discover traditional uses of plants in Alpine cooking, herbal infusions and local preparations.

Alpine fire cooking a Casalpina
Late spring · Summer · Early autumn

Alpine fire cooking

A day or evening around the fire, with meat, vegetables and ingredients chosen from the local area. More than a meal, it is a convivial moment built around embers, landscape and unhurried time.

Nico, an Alpine chef who brings together the South American tradition of asado with mountain meats and produce, guides the experience.

Walser cuisine a Casalpina
All year · especially autumn and winter

Walser cuisine

A day or weekend devoted to Walser cooking through recipes, gestures, ingredients and ways of preparing food that grew out of mountain life.

An encounter with a tradition that is still alive, guided by a Walser cook, cooking together and understanding why these dishes were born here.

Other experiences we are preparing

We are also working on other encounters connected to the landscape and culture of Gressoney. We will activate them when the right season and the right people come together.

Spring · Summer · Autumn
